Is it too early to say Manchester United are back? Probably, but who doesn’t love a bit of hype? It feels like an age since the Red Devils had something to smile about so we’ll let them off on this occasion.

Since Erik ten Hag’s sacking last month, United have been excellent. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim period in charge didn’t see Old Trafford outfit lose a single game and since Ruben Amorim was appointed, they’ve not lost either.

The draw with Ipswich a week ago wasn’t the most ideal of ways to start and there were some nervy moments against Bodo/Glimt in midweek but everything came together against Everton on Sunday afternoon.

This was arguably United’s finest performance of the season to date as they stuck four past the Toffees whose relegation-threatened woes show no sign of letting up.

So, who was the main winner from the hosts’ excellent win on Sunday? That was arguably Amad Diallo.

What a win this was. Even Joshua Zirkzee found the net twice. The Netherlands international has been far from his best since arriving in the summer and these were his first Premier League goals since that late debut strike against Fulham on the opening night of the campaign.

From that moment onwards his play has been sluggish, his touch lacks any form of finesse and he has been shoddy in front of goal.

That wasn’t the story on Sunday as he and Marcus Rashford, a man reborn since Amorim came in, helped to send the home support home rather cheerfully.

They owe a great deal of thanks to 22-year-old winger Amad, however. When he signed for United it’s unlikely he saw his future as a wing-back.

After all, this is a hugely exciting winger, someone who thrives in the final third of the pitch. Well, having now played there on a couple of occasions over the last week, he’s been one of the real bright sparks of the new manager’s tenure.

He has four assists in his last four games and the display we saw from the Ivorian on Sunday was quite marvellous. He galloped forward to tee up Rashford’s second and was also the provider of Zirkzee’s second, racing away from the Toffees defence before laying the ball on a plate.

A genuine livewire, no player left the field having completed more dribbles or made more key passes than Amad.

It’s a timely return to form for the Manchester club who now head to Arsenal in midweek. They will do so without Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez who have both been suspended.

While the likes of Rashford, Zirkzee and Amad have surely made themselves undroppable with their fine displays on Sunday, the same cannot be said of Casemiro. Is that a surprise?

The trouble is that Amorim may well start him. With Mainoo suspended Manuel Ugarte will need someone to partner him. Well, that player could well be Mason Mount who came on in the 80th minute for Mainoo.

He happened to last longer than Casemiro who was hauled off after 66 minutes having “copped some grief” from the manager in the words of journalist Samuel Luckhurst, who wasn’t happy at the Brazilian’s lack of pressing.

To visibly irk a new boss is far from ideal and after this, it would not be a surprise if he is dropped. The Arsenal midfield – chiefly Martin Odegaard – isn’t a player you can treat lightly and playing Casemiro against the Norwegian feels like a recipe for disaster.

Handed a 5/10 match rating by the aforementioned Luckhurst, the writer noted that ‘his tendency to slide in desperately was evident again’. That’s something you simply cannot afford to do against a team as good as Arsenal.

From a numbers point of view, it was an alright performance, truth be told. Casemiro won seven of his ten duels and ended the game with an 85% pass success rate.

That being said, it’s not a role the likes of Ugarte or Mount can’t perform themselves while offering a better degree of mobility and pressing. They should start instead in a few days time.

تحدث مدرب مانشستر سيتي بيب جوارديولا بعد مباراة فريقه أمام مانشستر يونايتد، وقيّم الأداء الهجومي للفريق في غياب المصاب إيرلينج هالاند.

وانتهى الديربي بتعادل سلبي بين مانشستر سيتي ومانشستر يونايتد على ملعب “أولد ترافورد”، في منافسات الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وقال جوارديولا في تصريحاته إلى “بي بي سي”: “مباراة صعبة، سنحت لهم فرص، وسنحت لنا فرص أيضًا”.

وأضاف: “المشكلة الوحيدة هي أننا تحركنا كثيرًا بالكرة، كان علينا أن نكون في الموقع المناسب، ولم نفعل ذلك”.

وحول اختياراته للفريق، أوضح:  “أعتقد أنهم لعبوا بشكل جيد للغاية، ريكو لويس كان جيدًا جدًا، أنا راضٍ عن أدائهم جميعًا”.

وحول أداء خط الهجوم بدون إيرلينج هالاند، أفاد: “ندفع بلاعبين يتمتعون بحس تهديفي، مثل عمر مرموش وفيل فودين، جوندوجان، ودي بروين، مع تمريرات عرضية وتمريرات جيدة لهم”.

After Todd Boehly’s takeover of Chelsea back in May 2022, no one could have predicted the massive influx of transfers that would take place at Stamford Bridge.

However, since Enzo Maresca’s appointment during the summer, the Senegalese has taken his game to the next level – starring in front of goal.

The 23-year-old has already found the back of the net eight times in his opening 13 matches, sitting as joint top scorer in the league alongside Cole Palmer with a third of the season already complete.

Moises Caicedo arrived in West London with huge expectations after his £115m transfer from Brighton – a deal that broke the record for being the most expensive in English football.

However, he’s already made 63 appearances, scoring twice, including a phenomenal long-range effort against Bournemouth towards the back end of the season.

The price tag would’ve played on the mind of the 23-year-old, but he’s proven to be worth every penny of the fee paid for his services, but the same can’t be said for one of his current teammates.

After his summer arrival, boss Maresca has already created a settled side, as demonstrated by their current league standing, which sees them sit third and level on points with second-placed Arsenal.

His arrival has allowed for a fresh start for numerous players, including left-back Marc Cucurella, who has nailed down the position in recent months, featuring in 12 of the 13 Premier League games this campaign.

Other players have not been so lucky, including central defender Benoit Badiashile, starting just one league meeting to date, featuring for a combined 157 minutes.

However, the Frenchman arrived with high hopes after his £35m transfer from Monaco back in January 2023, but he’s only made 44 appearances since his big-money deal, finding himself down the pecking order this season.

Badiashile, who earns £90k-per-week at the Bridge, has mainly been restricted to Europa Conference League appearances this campaign, not at the level required for Maresca given his lack of league action.

He still has plenty of time on his side given his tender age of just 23, but it’s safe to say that the move hasn’t worked out, especially after owner Boehly was “delighted” to secure his services nearly two years ago.

Given his £35m fee, the defender has currently cost the club £800k per appearance he’s made, a huge amount given his lack of impact in recent months.

His hefty wage, unfortunately, doesn’t reflect his game time since the appointment of the Italian, with a transfer away from the Blues potentially needed to kickstart a career which has become rather “dreadful” at Stamford Bridge in the words of pundit Gabby Agbonlahor.

There’s no way given his recent form, that the hierarchy would be able to make a profit, potentially taking a massive hit on their investment, but giving him the opportunity to resurrect his once-promising career.

وتابع: “أصبحنا ننافسكم ونحقق مفاجآت أمام فرقكم في الشمال، الآن أصبح الميدان متكافئًا، لا أحد يتفوق على الآخر، أدركنا أننا قادرون على الفوز بقدر ما تعتقدون أنكم قادرون على الفوز علينا”.

وأضاف: “لن نقلل من شأن أي فريق من شمال القارة، ولن نأخذ أي مواجهة كأمر محسوم، سنذهب لننافس ونُثبت أنه لولا العنصرية التي عانينا منها وآخرتنا كثيرًا، لكانت جنوب إفريقيا من بين الأفضل في القارة”.

وأكد مولوي احترامه الكامل للفرق المصرية لكنه شدد على جاهزية أورلاندو بايريتس للمنافسة، قائلًا: “نعم، بيراميدز فريق جيد، نعم، الأهلي فريق جيد، نعم، الزمالك فريق جيد، نعم، المصري فريق جيد، هناك العديد من الفرق الجيدة في مصر”.

Leeds United are back in Championship action once again this afternoon as they travel to Deepdale to take on Preston North End in one of the early kick-offs.

The Whites have the chance to move back to the top of the table with a win over Paul Heckingbottom’s side before Sheffield United face Plymouth at 3 pm.

Daniel Farke’s men can put pressure on the Blades by securing all three points against Preston and ensuring that their rivals have to win their match to retain their spot in first place.

The West Yorkshire outfit come into this match off the back two wins in the Championship in the last seven days, beating Derby County 2-0 on Saturday and Middlesbrough 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Farke’s side produced a fantastic performance to secure all three points in the win over Boro on Tuesday, thanks to goals from Wilfried Gnonto, Dan James, and Brenden Aaronson.

There were a number of fantastic performances across the pitch for Leeds on the night, as they scored three goals and secured all three points against a promotion-chasing team.

The scorer of the opening goal in the game at Elland Road – Gnonto – was one of the shining lights for the Whites, after he pounced from close range to make the most of an error from Seny Dieng.

He also completed two of his four attempted dribbles and won nine of his 12 ground duels throughout the game, which shows that the Italian gem was strong out of possession and that the forward was looking to put his side on the front foot by taking on opposition defenders.

Joe Rothwell caught the eye with his display in the middle of the park alongside Ao Tanaka. The Bournemouth loanee won six of his seven ground duels and completed 92% of his attempted passes, as he provided security in possession and strength defensively.

Wales international Dan James was one of the top performers for Farke and was involved in all three of the goals for Leeds from the right flank.

It was his cross that caused Dieng to fumble the ball into the path of Gnonto for the opener. James then crashed a brilliant shot into the far top corner from just inside the box for the second goal, before his pass into Tanaka in the box allowed his teammate to provide the assist for Aaronson’s strike.

Whilst there were some superb performers for Leeds, including Gnonto, James, and Rothwell, there was one player who struggled to showcase the best of his abilities for the Whites against Middlesbrough.

Farke opted to go with Mateo Joseph as his starting centre-forward for the clash with Michael Carrick’s side, with Gnonto, Aaronson, and James as the attacking trio behind him.

Piroe, who was once described as “dangerous” by journalist Josh Bunting, is a clinical forward, as shown by his xG to goal ratio, and can be relied upon to finish off chances that come his way.

وقال شوبير في تصريحات عبر برنامجه الإذاعي صباح اليوم الأربعاء: “مسألة استمرار علي معلول من عدمها مع النادي الأهلي، تعود لمجلس الإدارة والجهاز الفني، ولقيمة تعاقده، لكن المؤكد إن النادي يُفكر جديًا في تدعيم مركز الظهير الأيسر”.

وتابع: “يحيى عطية الله حظه سيء جدًا، تعرض لإصابات متتالية، إصابة في وجهه أبعدته فترة طويلة، ثم عاد وبعدها تعرض لإصابة بشد، وهو لاعب إعارة من سوتشي الروسي، وفرص استمراره مع الأهلي تعود أيضًا للجهاز الفني ومجلس الإدارة”.

وأضاف: “كريم الدبيس، عندما شارك كان رائعًا، ومصطفى العش أيضًا الجميع يشيد بمستواه، لكن لا بد أن يستمر على ذلك، ولكن وارد إن الأهلي يبحث عن لاعب في مركز الظهير الأيسر”.

واختتم: “نجاح تجربة أشرف داري مع رامي ربيعة وياسر إبراهيم، هل تُغني الأهلي عن التفكير في التعاقد مع مدافع؟ أعتقد لا، سيفكرون في التعاقد مع مدافع، لكن صفقة أشرف داري ناجحة، وهل يعود أليو ديانج أم لا؟ كلها أسئلة يرددها جمهور الأهلي”.

ويلتقي الأهلي مع صن داونز، يوم الجمعة المقبل 25 أبريل، ضمن مواجهة الإياب لدور نصف النهائي من بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا، على ملعب استاد القاهرة، علمًا بأن مباراة الذهاب التي أقيمت في جنوب إفريقيا انتهت سلبيًا.
