However, there is an acceptance within Arsenal that they need to sign a prolific new striker at some point next year, whether that be in January or next summer.

Interim sporting director Jason Ayto, assisted by managing director Richard Garlick, is tasked with overseeing Arsenal’s recruitment strategy in the absence of ex-transfer chief Edu – with the influential figurehead resigning from his post last month.

Looking ahead to 2025, it is believed Ayto and Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of signing a world-class target man who can deliver serious returns in the final third – leading to their rumoured interest in a few big-name centre-forwards.

Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic’s representatives have held talks with Arsenal, according to some reports, while it is believed by other media sources that the club could turn to lesser-known strikers like Spartak Moscow sensation Manfred Ugalde.

Arsenal have been told by intermediaries that they could sign Ugalde for £25 million, which is the value of his release clause, and the Costa Rica international has impressed Emirates Stadium officials with his 16-goal haul in all competitions (The Boot Room).

Two other marksmen linked with moves to north London come in the form of RB Leipzig sensation Benjamin Sesko and Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres, with Football Transfers now sharing a pretty intriguing update on the club’s interest in both men.

It is believed that Arsenal are in direct talks with Gyokeres over a potential move, and Sporting are prepared to sell him for around £54 million – a serious discount on his £85 million release clause.

The Swede is garnering sensational numbers yet again this season, racking up 27 goals in just 25 appearances across all competitions, but this hasn’t swayed Arteta – who is apparently more keen on Sesko.

The latter is apparently Arteta’s “preferred option” and “priority target” to lead Arsenal’s line, and if the club feel that he’ll be available for transfer this time round, they could apparently attempt to prise him away from the Bundesliga after failing to do so in the summer window.

However, if they suffer yet another setback in their pursuit of the Slovenian, Arsenal will turn their attention entirely to Gyokeres.

وخسر أتلتيك بلباو بثلاثية نظيفة أمام نظيره مانشستر يونايتد بقيادة روبن أموريم، في ذهاب دور نصف نهائي الدوري الأوروبي، في المباراة التي أقيمت مساء أمس الخميس، على ملعب “سان ماميس”.

وقال إرنستو فالفيردي مدرب أتلتيك بلباو في تصريحات صحفية عقب المباراة: “عندما كانت المباراة 11 لاعبا لكل فريق كانت الأفضلية لنا.. اللاعبون توتروا قليلًا بعد هدف كاسيميرو”.

وأكمل :”احتججنا على لمسة يد سابقة من جارناتشو، والتي أعتقد أنها أصابته، ثم ركلة الجزاء التي رأيتها لا أعرف مدى صحتها، ركلة الجزاء والبطاقة الحمراء عقابين مبالغ فيهما”.

The BCB has regularly hired the best in the business to groom their fast bowlers, such as Courtney Walsh, Ottis Gibson and Charl Langeveldt. Allan Donald, a modern great, who inspired a generation of fast bowlers in South Africa, is the latest addition to lead Bangladesh’s fast bowling think-tank. But like all of his predecessors, Donald, too, is quickly finding out that the team’s inexperienced fast bowlers will have more bad days than good.The Bangladesh pacers’ first innings, in Mirpur, was a mixed bag. Ebadot Hossain finished with 4 for 148, the team’s most expensive four-wicket haul at home. Khaled Ahmed’s figures after bowling 23 overs read 0 for 85, as his wicketless spree in the series continued. But a bowling coach will always harp on the positives, and in this innings it is likely to be the 61 overs the two pacers bowled, making them Bangladesh’s first two-man fast bowling attack to bowl 50-plus overs in a home Test, since 2002.Related

We are constantly busy with other factors in terms of mindset and alignment. I thought today, Ebadot was fantastic. He ran in all day long. I told him after tea to ask (Mominul) for the ball nicely. He did that again, and caused problems,” Donald said.”We, in South Africa and here, have not asked enough questions with the new ball. We are working on that attitude and skill. Donald admitted that the Sri Lankan fast bowling duo of Kasun Rajitha and Asitha Fernando bowled better than his charges, but believed that Khaled and Ebadot’s lack of experience means that they are at times playing catch-up with overall skills.”I thought the Sri Lankan quicks on the first day were awesome in terms of their consistency and asking questions. They were rewarded by 24 for 5. They got the ball to swing. They hit the areas. I said that on these wickets in Bangladesh, the new ball is massive. They exploited that really well.”The fast bowling coach also rued missing the consistency of Shoriful Islam and Taskin Ahmed, who are both nursing injuries. “Shoriful, unfortunately, fractured his finger. Taskin is a great miss. He is a lovely kid. He has a serious sized engine in him. You just know he will run through a wall for you. But sometimes someone missing a game is another one’s opportunity,” Donald said. “Ebadot and Khaled have another opportunity to learn, and I want people to be vigilant and patient with their process. Attempting to add another future star to a growing list of young talents, Arsenal have reportedly made their first approach to sign a 17 year-old striker for Mikel Arteta this month.

Whether it’s an option like Mohammed Kudus or, indeed, a younger star, Arsenal certainly need attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window following the news of Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury. Potentially without their star man for the next two months, the Gunners must discover a new attacking spark from open play rather than maintain their reliance on set pieces.

Adrift in the Premier League title race, Arsenal can ill-afford to get things wrong in the January transfer window and must ensure that they don’t allow Liverpool to enjoy a simple stroll to glory.

It’s not just the current season that the Gunners are focusing on though, with their sights also firmly set on the future and signing one young player who could play an important part in that.

According to The Scottish Sun, Arsenal have made their first approach to sign Evan Mooney from St. Mirren in a move that would see the 17-year-old pick The Emirates over St James’ Park and Newcastle United.

Still an incredibly young player, Mooney has impressed in the first-team opportunities that he’s received at St. Mirren this season and could now follow a number of young players emerging to play a part in Arteta’s side.

The likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Miles Lewis-Skelly are two of the more recent players to benefit from Arsenal’s path into the senior side and Mooney could yet be next.

Mooney is one to watch

One goal and one assist in four appearances in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, Mooney looks destined to become a key man at St. Mirren before moving onto greater things elsewhere. Whether that involved a stop at The Emirates remains to be seen, but there’s no doubt that North London is the land of opportunity for young players.

The teenager could yet solve Arsenal’s biggest problems too, given that he’s able to play both as a striker and a right-winger to eventually hand Arteta a goalscoring solution and natural cover for Saka.

The Spaniard has already suffered the consequence once for failing to use an alternative to the England international week in, week out and it’s not something that he’ll want to suffer again anytime soon.

With a long month ahead, it will certainly be interesting to see whether clubs wait to pounce on Mooney or, indeed, strike as early as this month. As Newcastle and Arsenal compete, he’s set to be one to watch.

James Fuller’s quickfire 45 and impeccable bowling from Liam Dawson and Nathan Ellis fired Hampshire into the Vitality Blast quarter-finals at the expense of Gloucestershire.Allrounder Fuller needed only 24 balls to smack his haul at the death to drag Hampshire to an above-par 140. Gloucestershire, who needed to win to keep their knockout hopes alive, lost wickets with regularity with Dawson returning 2 for 16 and Australian Ellis 1 for 14 in his four overs – as Hampshire won by 15 runs.Hampshire chose to bat first on a sluggish used pitch and battled their way to above par thanks to some late-innings hitting. Before then it had been a struggle as Gloucestershire bowled incredibly tightly on a pitch similar to a typical Seat Unique Stadium wicket.Only 24 runs came in the powerplay with Ben McDermott and James Vince both falling, the former to Mohammad Amir who only bowled three balls before walking off clutching his side.Benny Howell had Tom Prest top-edging a slog sweep with the pressure building before his slower ball found Ross Whiteley chopping on via his pad, on the way to 2 for 29.Joe Weatherley kept things ticking, but his dismissal sent Hampshire sliding. Weatherley and Dawson handed Tom Smith figures of 2 for 18, before Fuller teed off. Forty-six runs came from the final three overs, and 36 from the final two, as Fuller swung Ryan Higgins for back-to-back sixes over the long square boundary before plopping David Payne over the straight boundary twice.The visitors moved Iain Cockbain up to open for the first time this season but he only lasted until the second over when Prest brilliantly ran him out with only a single stump to aim at. It was an atonement for Prest, who had dropped a tough chance off Chris Dent.
