Manchester United have already bolstered their midfield presence with the signing of Mason Mount and now a fresh update has emerged on the club's pursuit of another target for the centre of the pitch.

The 26-year-old – who was dubbed a "monster" by broadcaster Carlo Garganese – clearly demonstrates far more ability in winning back the ball and playing killer passes to the attacking third than the Man United dud, so it would make perfect sense for Amrabat to accompany Casemiro in the deep-lying roles of midfield next season.

In fact, according to WhoScored, no Man United midfielder had a better pass completion rate than the Fiorentina dynamo last season or delivered more long balls, whilst only Casemiro averaged more passes per 90, which is a testament to the quality that Amrabat can bring to Man United next season.

With that being said, if Man United can complete a deal for Amrabat it could significantly improve the midfield presence at Old Trafford next season and would add great quality in their pursuit of competing for more trophies and dominating English football once again.

Chelsea offloaded Kalidou Koulibaly earlier this window just a year on from paying big for the centre-back, but they appear to already have a replacement within their ranks in Levi Colwill.

Still aged just 20, Colwill already has two seasons of senior football under his belt, including 17 outings in the Premier League for Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022-23.

The England age-grade international, who is currently away representing his country at the U21 Euros, is returning to Stamford Bridge after his successful Brighton loan and has two years to run on his contract.

Colwill tackled 0.29 dribblers per 90, meanwhile, compared to 0.25 for Van Dijk, while they averaged a very similar number of touches (92.9 v 91.3) and likewise for aerial duels won (71.4% v 74.2%).

The Englishman clearly has something about him, then, with Brighton boss Roberto Di Zerbi regularly praising Colwill last season.

"I would like to work with him for another two, three, four years because it's difficult to find another left centre-back with his qualities," the Italian said.

"He's a good guy who is improving a lot. This year his improvement has been fantastic, and I hope he can stay with us."

De Zerbi is unlikely to get his wish, with Pochettino – known for giving youngsters a chance to thrive – surely working on a plan to get Colwill into Chelsea's starting line-up.

The report also states that Leeds are unlikely to retain the USA international's services, with the midfielder highly unlikely to want to be playing Championship football next season, assuming the Whites are relegated from the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

In truth, McKennie has done nowhere near enough to justify Leeds keeping him on, even if he wanted to stay, with his performances so disappointing overall. He has enjoyed nowhere near the influence of Tyler Adams, with his compatriot's absence through injury in recent months an enormous blow.

While it was hoped that McKennie could fill the void left by him – Clint Dempsey has called him "dangerous" in the past – he has generally been unnoticeable and not had the impact so many thought he would, averaging just 0.2 blocks per game and playing just 0.7 key passes per match.

For that reason, the idea of him not joining the Whites permanently may not be seen as a great loss, and he could be looked back on as a poor addition, unless he manages to perform some heroics against Tottenham this weekend, playing a part in Leeds pulling off a miraculous escape act on the final day.
